Destined now to have a budding career in the entertainment industry (I’m guessing Playboy and other porn companies may also approach her), the girl in the now famous “Yoga by Equinox” video will also be known by her name: Brionhy Smith. The video, which now has over 1 million views (!) as spread like wild fire–and whether it’s yoga teachers balking at her near nudity, people praising her yoga abilities or men just downright drooling over her underwear (or lack thereof), it is a huge success. Bravo to Equinox for flexing their marketing savvy. And kudos to The Washington Post for launching Smith’s career via their recent blog post and investigation into the video (it was shot in a swanky hotel in Manhattan). Smith, who you can find via a simple Google search or at her “Yoga with Briohny” Facebook page, looks like just another sweet innocent girl in her professional photo:
But after seeing her in the Equinox yoga video, we know that she’s more than meets the eye.maybe that’s the transformative power of you. Maybe it’s just about the fact that sex sells. Some people are angry about the sexually explicit nature of the video. But I think: If it takes sex for more people to notice the power of yoga, than so be it. More guys should be practicing anyway. And since they like what they see, maybe it will lead them to the yoga studio. Like a cartoon character dizzily and drunkenly following a trace of scented apple pie, as long as more people find their way to their yoga mats, I support the cause, no matter if it smells of sex or warm apples drenched in cinnamon.
